Bowling Green held Lake Superior to 3 shots on net in the third
period and won the contest on defenseman Jeff Wells's power play
goal with 7 minutes left.
Bob Petrie kept BG in the game early, making 15 saves in the first.
Blaine Lacher slept through the second, allowing 3 goals on 7 shots.
The puck went in a fourth time in the middle stanza when a BG forward
poked the puck from a snoozing Lacher, but the ref said he had blown
his whistle.
The stripes later did the same to a Laker score. They also evened up
the 5-on-3s when they called BG for 2 minors at the same time near the
end of the second period.
Jeff Elvin scored his first collegiate goal for BG. Another frosh Curtis
Fry was the Falcon's scoring star (1-2). Clayton Beddoes led the Laker
offense (2-0) along with Keith Aldridge (0-3).
Kurt Miller of LSSU received a game DQ after the game for "abuse of an
official" (didn't see it).
Same two teams Saturday night.
Other CCHA scores: Miami 7-3 over Western Michigan
Michigan State 6-3 over Michigan (not a typo)
Illinois-Chicago 5-1 over Ohio State
Notre Dame and Kent tied at 3
