Alex Relyea asks:

Although one must be a terrific athlete to be a goalie, size, strength, and
the ability to take a pounding are not as important. Since women tend to
be smaller with definitely less muscle mass, they face an almost impossible
task in competing at the non-goalie positions. At goalie, one must be quick,
with great reflexes and balance. Most of the characteristics that make up a
great goalie do NOT exclude women.
