Conference playoff proposal from CCHA Coaches at their recent Convention:
 
  Top 6 teams host bottom 6 (12 @ 1, 11 @ 2, etc.) in best of three.
Winners are reseeded (by regular season finish) for 3-day Tournament
in Detroit (Fri-Sun) with 1 and 2 getting byes on Friday while 3-6
and 4-5 play, then 3-6 winner going against 2 and 4-5 winner against 1
on Saturday and those winners play Sunday for the Championship.
 
  CCHA executive committee will seed Alaska Fairbanks in 7-12 range.
 
  CCHA Comissioner will recommend it to the Executive Committee and
Athletic Directors will vote on it at an August meeting.
 
  If it can't be implemented in time for next season, then '93
tournament will be as announced earlier (bottom 8 play one game
preliminary on Tuesday; 5-12, 6-11, etc., with the 4 winners in
best of three against the top four, and winners to Detroit for
single game elimination to Conference Championship).

  The CCHA will stay with the one referee, two linesmen system along
with the ECAC.  WCHA will go to two referee one linesman system and
HE is expected to do this also.  Some possiblility the NCAA will also
adopt the two referee system for tournament play.
