With the CHA finishing its tournament last weekend, we have our first winner in the Pick the Post-season Tournaments Contest #2.
First, however, an on-the-fly scoring change to announce. Although it had not happened in the 11 years I've been running this contest, it is possible for a league's consolation game to end in a tie, as shown by the CHA's Niagara and Alabama-Huntsville. With 1 point available for picking the consolation game winner, I've decided to split it in half and award 0.5 points to anyone who picked Niagara or Alabama-Huntsville to win the CHA consolation. I'll do something similar if future consolations end in a tie, ignoring NCAA-style the result of any shoot-out that might be held.
The CHA race ended with five people tied for first place: Troy D. Mills, Mark Lewin, Tony Buffa, Craig Knowles, and myself each had 3.5 points. Troy won the first tiebreaker with a perfect championship game score prediction.
The overall contest lead is currently shared by Robin Lock and myself, with 27.5 points each.
Scoring reminder: Each correct winner you pick in each round earns you one point. There is no bonus in a first-round/quarterfinal series for picking the number of games that the series lasts.
Here is the scoring so far, overall and for each conference. Also included are the scores for the predictions by the USCHO staff (who, it should be pointed out, didn't have to pick all the games at once) and a "Higher Seed" entry, showing what would have happened if the higher seed for each game had been picked to win. Thus, in the "Higher Seed" entry, all first-round/quarterfinal series get picked as sweeps.
