I never saw two "Resurfacers" crash, but once I did see a driver looking behind him run head-on into the end boards!

By the way, it's still a freakin "Zamboni", no matter who the manufacturer technically is, just like I "Xerox" something at work, even if the machine I use was made by IBM!

Subject: Dual (Duel?) resurfacing machines

At last weekend's Governor's Cup tourney at the Knickerbacker^WPepsi^WTimes Union Arena in Albany, they used two machines to resurface the ice. RPI has been doing this at the Field House for a number of years.

In addition to doubling the available advertising space, this (combined with the 15-minute halftime) increases the entertainment value:
- Will the two resurfacing machines crash?
- Puck shoots, tricycle races, figure skating demos...

So this brings up several questions:
- How many arenas use two resurfacers?
- Have two resurfacers ever crashed?
- When will figure skating introduce body checking?

Partial answer to the first item: "The NHL requires that two machines resurface the ice between periods." (http://entertainment.howstuffworks.com/ice-rink6.htm)

Zamboni is a trade name; for the sake of correctness, I've avoided using it in this post as a noun. How many brands of ice resurfacing machines are in active use?

Brands:
- Zamboni: http://www.zamboni.com/welcome.html
- Olympia: http://www.resurfice.com/
- Mulser: http://www.wm-mulser.com/sites/english/frameset.htm <- I'd never heard of this one before doing a web search. One of their units has an enclosed cab.
- Others?
