CORSAIR COACH NOMINATED FOR EDWARD JEREMIAH AWARD

GLOUCESTER, MA-University of Massachusetts Dartmouth Head Coach John Rolli is one of 11 finalists for the Edward Jeremiah Award, which is presented annually to the NCAA Division III Men’s Hockey Coach of the Year by the American Hockey Coaches Association.

The list of finalists includes head coaches of teams advancing to the NCAA Division III finals, as well as those named coach of the year in their respective conferences.

The finalists include Bill Beaney of Middlebury, who has won the award three times and whose Panthers won the NCAA Division III championship last weekend, as well as Terry Skrypek of St. Thomas, last year’s recipient. Other finalists include Nick Carriere of Buffalo State, Elmira’s Tim Ceglarski, Tim Coghlan of St. Norbert, Bill Kangas of Williams, Mark Ostapina of the Milwaukee School of Engineering, Jamie Rice of Babson, Mark Taylor of Hobart and Jim Tortorella of Colby.

Rolli led the Corsairs to a 25-5 record this past season. UMass Dartmouth was the ECAC Northeast champion, became the first ECAC Northeast team to win an NCAA Division III playoff game, and advanced to the quarterfinals of the tournament, where they lost to Middlebury.

The award is named in honor of the former Dartmouth head coach. It will be presented at the AHCA Coach of the Year Banquet Saturday, April 25th in Naples, Florida.
