So, I was reading the 2002 NCAA D1 Men's Ice Hockey Championships
Handbook at
http://www.ncaa.org/library/handbooks/iceHockey/2002/2002_d1_m_icehockey.pdf
and I noticed that, on the map of regions in the appendix, Alabama is
in the West. I had thought they were in the East, and sure enough, in
last year's handbook
http://www.ncaa.org/library/handbooks/iceHockey/2001/2001_ice_hockey.pdf
they are; Alabama and Mississippi were moved into the West (but
Kentucky and Tennessee stay in the East, which makes the map look a
little funny). Anyone heard why? (If it was intended to unite
College Hockey America as a Western conference, it doesn't quite work,
with Niagara in the East with the rest of New York state.
