My original post yielded two responses so far -- both opposed to
bringing back the Puppy, one for esthetic reasons, the other for
practical reasons.

I simply disagree with the esthetic reasons offered, but I admit
to being somewhat prejudiced by nostalgia. I would love to have
one of those Puppy jerseys, but I don't think there is a place to
find them at this point (of course, one that says "Eruzione", "T.
Meagher", "R. Meagher" or "Walsh" on the back would certainly be
something!). In any case, I agree that "cartoonish" logos are to
be disdained -- I just never thought of the pup as cartoonish,
and I like tradition.

Arthur Berman's practical objection is well taken. That's why I
suggested putting the Pup on the home jersey only and leaving the
away jersey as it is, number only. I, too, find myself looking
for the visiting players to turn around alot, so I can see their
numbers, and see the value of displaying the number on away
uniforms. Sort of the way home baseball uniforms have the team
name and away uniforms have the city (for those morons who might
wonder where, for example, the Red Sox or Yankees are from if
they only saw the team name -- tradition :-)).

Enough of that. Whatever they wear, they will still be the
1995 Beanpot, Hockey East and NCAA Division I National Champions.

(Yes, I made that up, just now; so sue me.)
