again from the 8/31/94 NCAA register
1. SA plays in an exhibition contest during major junior "A" tryout
in fall, 1992. SA loses one season of eligibility and must sit out
his first year in residence
2. SA attends training camp and plays in 6 exhibitions with a major
junior team. SA loses one season of eligibility and must sit out
his first year in residence
3. SA accepts promise of future pay as compensation for participation
in international competition for USA hockey. SA believed this
legal and SA never received money. Institution required SA to sign
an affadavit promising not to accept any payment from USA hockey.
Eligibility restores, but NCAA enforcement staff is reviewing this
and other matters at that institution.
4. Host family program as alternative to dorms, and SAs got extra
benefits (use of b&w TV, birthday and holiday gifts, free lodging
for visiting relatives) Value calculated as market for a double
room in dorms and included as a line item in SA's aid package.
Eligibility restored after SAs repay value of benefits.
5. Div 2 SA plays 4 exhibition and 2 regular season contests during
major junior "A" tryout during the '91-92 season. SA also received
expenses. SA loses one season of eligibility and must sit out his
first year in residence plus first 2 games his second season in
residence.
