I got this on the baseball list that I am on. Although I might not agree
(I don't know yet, I haven't formed an opinion yet).
For jazz-l: this is "other talk, Merciful related"
For hockey-l, this is sports and $$ related. Good thing this won't happen
with college hockey.

**NOTICE**
**BASEBALL FAN WALKOUT**
Date: 7/10/94, Sunday
**Locations**
Atlanta
Baltimore
Boston
Chicago
Cincinnati
Detroit
Los Angeles
Miami (Marlins)
Minneapolis/St.Paul(Twins)
Milwaukee
New York (Yankees)
San Diego
San Francisco
Toronto
**Volunteers needed**
* 300,000 to 500,000 fans(average Sunday attendance) willing to stay away
from major league ball parks for ONE GAME ONLY and avoid TV and radio
coverage of all games on 7/10/94.
* Fans in each of the 14 locations willing to forward this notice in
whatever format(electronic, printed, etc.) to their local media, other
baseball fans, or anyone else who may attend a game on 7/10/94
**Reasons for walkout**
* To stop players and owners from ruining the Great American Pastime.
* To show fan solidarity against player and owner greed
* To remind players and owners who the customer is(THE FANS) and who pays
their salaries
* To gain consideration for the fans' interests at the next scheduled
player meeting(7/11/94) and the next owner meeting(unkown)
**What we want**
* For the players and owners to settle their differences in the OFF-SEASON
ONLY.
**Things to think about**
* WE PAY THE BILLS; this is simply a demand for a better product
* Once the players go on strike, we'll be missing games anyway. Why not
miss one game of our own choosing and make a point?
* Why 7/10/94. It is our best shot, since the players meeting on 7/11/94
and could conceivably go on strike on that date.
We realize this is a long-shot, but hopefully there are lots more fans who
will read this, who are as frustrated as we are and will stay away from
major league parks on 7/10/94.
Signed,
A few fans who still believes in the "Field of Dreams"
