In a well-played game at Meehan Auditorium this evening, #15 Brown took
the measure of Clarkson's Golden Knights as senior Bear goaltender Yann
Danis turned away 31 shots and backstopped a focused Brown squad to a 4-1
victory. During the season to date, Danis has forged the top save
percentage (.970%) as well as the best goals against average (0.85) in the
nation. In addition, the Bears' power play is clicking at a 31.4% rate (2nd
in Div. I) and their penalty kill is ranked first nationally at 92.9%.

After taking a one-goal lead at 4:27 of the first period on a power play
goal by senior defenseman Vince Macri (freshman forward Brian Ihanacak and
junior center Les Haggett earned assists), the Bears added three more goals
to forge a 4-0 margin before Clarkson sophomore defenseman Chris Brekelmans
spoiled Danis' shutout bid at 13:25 of the final period.

Brown junior forward Chris Swon scored the second Bear goal at 1:15 of
the middle stanza on assists from senior center Pascal Denis and freshman
winger Sean Dersch, followed by a 4x3 power play goal by senior captain
Scott Ford at 13:21 assisted by senior forward Brent Robinson and Haggett.
Senior forward Nick Ringstad closed out the Bear scoring with a pretty goal
at 13:25 of the third period when he took a pass from senior forward Shane
Mudryk and patiently waited until Clarkson goaler Dustin Traylen provided an
opening over his right shoulder.

SCORING:
Brown 1 2 1 = 4
Clarkson 0 0 1 = 1

PENALTIES:
Brown 7 for 14 min.
Clarkson 7 for 22 min.

POWER PLAYS:

Clarkson 0/7

SAVES:
Danis (Brown) 11 11 9 = 31
Traylen (Clarkson) 7 10 6 = 23

Brown advances its conference record to 5-1-0 (5-1-1 overall), and
awaits the arrival of the St. Lawrence Saints tomorrow night at Meehan
Auditorium for a 7:00 p.m. match.
