The #15 Brown Bears and the Providence College Friars both scored power
play goals tonight as the two teams played to a 1-1 overtime tie at
Schneider Arena in the 18th annual Mayor's Cup Game.

After a scoreless first period, the Bears took the lead at 10:59 of the
middle stanza when junior forward Les Haggett, stationed in the slot, took a
nifty goal line pass from senior forward Brent Robinson and fired a wrister
past PC junior goaltender, David Cacciola. Providence tied the game at 1:54
of the final period as sophomore forward Torry Gajda squeezed a shot between
the right post and the pad of senior Bear goaler Yann Danis. Sophomore
defenseman James Pemberton and junior forward Chris Chaput were credited
with assists on the tally. The two teams then played through the balance of
regulation and a five-minute overtime without further scoring.
