Actually, if you think about it....they can't. Then they would likely read
something like
"no player shall hold an opponent in a such a manner that actually impedes
that player from having the opportunity to score a goal".
Can you imagine the arguments this definition would create? As a sports
official that has worked up to the outskirts of the college level in both
lacrosse and football, I can say there is the book rule, and then there is the
game rule...and both can be quite different. That still creates problems of
course...but I think to a lesser extent.
