 Re: 20:00 Cornell vs. Colgate
I was at the game last night and this was the explanation from the radio
announcers and people behind me who played IM hockey at Lynah Rink:

The electronic scoreboard at Cornell controls the red lights in the goal
judges' booths. At last night's game, Jason Vogel took the shot from the right
of Ken Baker (Colgate goalie) and had pretty much an empty net to shoot at.
The goal judge lit the lamp. Supposedly, if there was still time in the timing
mechanism (even though the clock may read 0:00), the red light would go on (and
it did). If there was truly no time left, then the goal judge could not have
lit the lamp. Referee Cerbo must have gotten that explanation from the rink
officials, then relayed it to the team captains. As people at the game would
attest, the Cornell captains got a satisfactory answer from Cerbo and skated
off the ice with Coach McCutcheon into the dressing room, while Cerbo further
clarified the situation with the Colgate captains for another few minutes.
Meanwhile, students started chanting, "Put it on the board." Finally, the rink
officials added the second goal to the scoreboard for Cornell. That, may have
been the difference for the game in terms of how the momentum shifted. Cornell
looked much stronger in 3rd period and scored twice more to make it 4-1.
