I bought The Sporting News's annual Hockey magazine a few days ago.
This is their preseason Top 20 attributed to John Gilbert of the
Minneapolis Star Tribune.

1. North Dakota 11. Clarkson
2. BU 12. BC
3. Colorado College 13. Minn Duluth
4. Miami of Ohio 14. Harvard
5. RPI 15. Wisconsin
6. UNH 16. Notre Dame
7. Maine 17. Northeastern
8. Minnesota 18. Western Michigan
9. Michigan State 19. LSSU
10. Michigan 20. St. Cloud

There also is a list of about 100 players (several of whom have
now turned pro) called the 1997-98 All-American Checklist which
I am too lazy to type in.

Projected players of the year are:

ECAC Trevor Koenig, Union
CCHA Dan Boyle, Miami
HEA Chris Drury, BU
WCHA Curtis Murphy, N. Dak.

Those who have been reading this magazine for years will note that the
lousy puns have now been absent for a few years. (e.g. from 4 years
ago: RPI will have a Little Majic show.)

The issue also contains schedules and key returning players, newcomers and
losses for each league team as well as Air Force and Army (no Mankato,
Niagara, or Nebraska Omaha).
