HOCKEY EAST TOURNAMENT

Consolation:
* This was only the second consolation game BU had played (there
was no game in 1990). BU defeated the then University of Lowell,
   6-4, in the 1985 game.
* This was UML's fifth consolation game and third in four years.
Their record in consolation games is now 2-3.

Championship:
* This was the third straight year that the final score was 3-2.
* Maine's goal at 19:12 was the first goal scored in the third period
of a championship game since the 1993 final. There had been
62:25 of scoreless third period hockey over that span.
* Providence scored more than two goals for the first time in three
championship game appearances (2-1 win in 1985, 2-3 loss in 1995)
* Maine has never won a championship game in which they have scored
  less than 4 goals (Won: 5-4, 4-1, 5-2; Lost: 2-4, 3-4, 3-4, 3-4, 2-3)
* A Friar has been the MVP all three times Providence has been in the
  championship game.
* It was the first time since 1988 that the winning team had four
players named to the All-Tournament Team. That year 7 players
were selected due to a tie.
* It was the first time since 1986 that the losing team had only one
player named to the All-Tournament Team.
* It was the first time that the forth place finisher in the regular
  season won the tournament championship.
* It was the second straight year the number one seed was not in the
championship game and the third time overall.
* It was the first time that neither the number one or two seed was
  in the championship game.
* It was the sixth time the lower seeded of the two teams in the
championship game won, but the first time since 1991.
* It was the first time since 1990 (BC) that a team other than BU or
  Maine won the tournament.

Championship Game Records:

Northeastern 1-0 1.000
Boston University 4-1 0.800
Providence 2-1 0.667
Boston College 2-3 0.400
Maine 3-5 0.375
New Hampshire 0-1 0.000
UMass Lowell 0-1 0.000

I guess that's enough trivia for now.
