Eric, while a referee should remain as cool, calm, and unemotionally involved
as possible, there is no level of "violence" that a referee should accept
directed towards them.
 
Example:  I received an incident report from a referee in Missouri that
detailed a DQ given a player for taking their helmet off, entering the
referee's crease, and spitting on them.  Using Rule 4-10, I suspended the
player from games and practices for 30 days.

towards you? If a player directs a verbal assult at me I ussaly toss them so
if a player takes a swing isn't that not the fine line a player should never
cross faced with the worse sanctions against them?????
