Championship game, Jan 9

Babson 3, Holy Cross 1

Babson outshot Holy Cross 9-0 (zero!) in the first but
only led 1-0. HC went 32 minutes before getting its first shot
on net. BC went up 2-0 in the third and HC cut it
to to 2-1 10 minutes into the period on the power play. An
empty netter for Babson rounded out the scoring.

BC outshot HC 29-17, with 24 shots coming in the final
period, so both teams opened it up a bit at the end.

Babson improved to 5-3-1; Holy Cross fell to 7-3.

Third place game

Canisius 4, Connecticut 3

The host UConn Huskies gave up 3 goals in the second period
to finish last in their own tournament (ouch). They did manage to
tie it up 2 minutes into the third, but the game-winner for
Canisius came 10 minutes later on the power play.

CC had 17 minors to UC's 11, so they must have done some penalty
killing (and good killing at that, since UC had no PPGs).

Canisius is now 9-3; Connecticut 6-4.

Semifinals, Jan 8

Babson 5, Canisius 3

Tom Field scored twice and Sean Condon made 32 (or 33) saves
to lead BC. Canisius cut it to 4-3 midway through the third
but could not tie it.

Holy Cross 6, Connecticut 4

Four first period goals by HC helped them coast to the win. UC
did cut the lead to 2 goals on occasion, but never closer than that.

HC's goalie only made 14 saves; UC's only 16.
