It could not have been just one class, otherwise he would have had a GPA of
at least 2.00 and we wouldn't be discussing him ad infinitum. :)

For fear of drifting from discussing hockey, I agree with you on the need for
institutions that admit people with lesser marks. The university that I attend
, Carleton U., does just this, it admits anyone with a 60% average to a B.A.
program. I am proud of this open-door policy, I support it, and I will fight
to keep it in place should they ever talk of scrapping it.
(BTW, I didn't need it to get in :) )

That being said, you have to look at a couple of things. First, what are
Maine's standards for someone coming in to study Poli Sci or Sociology? If
Maine is a school that requires a high average to get in for normal studies,
it should not be letting in hockey players with averages in the 50s. Second,
even if Maine has an open-door policy, would they normally let in someone who
has to weasel to get a 2.0 when that only takes 60% for him? Even Carleton,
which is called "Last Chance U" or "Hog's Back High" would reject someone with
an average that low.

Hope there are no major injuries. :-)
