Thanks to Chris for posting the ECAC/West scores. The Canisius computer had
wiped out part of our incoming mail over the weekend, so had no idea if the
news had been sent to HOCKEY3 or HOCKEY-L. A little extra info on the two
games involving the Griffs:

               1st 2nd 3rd F
Canisius 3 1 1 5
Mercyhurst 0 1 2 3

I wasn't at Elmira for this game; reports from fans indicated the
Griffins came out sizzling, and dominated play for the 1st and 2nd periods.
Mercyhurst didn't give up, though, scoring twice in the 3rd to pull within a
single goal. Canisius iced the game when senior Tony Zeniuk scored the empty
netter with 20 seconds remaining.

Championship

               1st 2nd 3rd F
Canisius 0 1 0 1
Elmira 2 0 0 2

We expected to see a lot of scoring for this one; instead, it was a defensive
battle. The Griffs gave up two in the 1st (I'll give Elmira credit; they
weren't cheap goals), then settled down and steadily denied the Eagles any
chance of putting another goal in. Canisius for its part out-shot Elmira, but
their goalie, Laudato, had one of those nights. He deserved the MVP, but then
again, if the Griffs had won the game, say 3-2, Griffin goalie Derek Slater
would have been MVP ... both were outstanding.

Barring a surprise invitation to the Div. I tournament ;^) the Ice Griffs are
all done. A good year of hockey spectating, so my public congratulations to
coach Brian Cavanaugh for an outstanding season. Next year should be even
better...
