       HOCKEY BOWS AT FITCHBURG STATE, 4-1
FITCHBURG, MA-Host Fitchburg State broke a 1-1 tie with two goals within 26 seconds at the end of the second period and went on to defeat the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's hockey team, 4-1, in a Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference game at the Wallace Civic Center Sunday afternoon.
Chris Riggs scored a power play goal at 18:38 of the second period to put the Falcons ahead, 2-1.Bryan Canter’s goal at the 19:04 mark made it 3-1 after two periods. 
Kevin McCready put FSU ahead when he scored with the Falcons enjoying a man advantage at 4:23 of the first period. Freshman Ryan Hurd (Mound, MN/Rochester Ice Hawks) evened the scored with his first collegiate goal, converting a pass from sophomore forward Bill Colclough (Naples, FL/Peoria Mustangs) a minute and 145 seconds later. Andrew Jones added a third-period goal for the Falcons to complete the scoring. 
“The two goals that Fitchburg scored late in the second period, one on a power play, were the key to the game,” said UMass Dartmouth Head Coach John Rolli. “They scored a pair of power play goals. Our most effective line was our fourth line of Ryan Hurd, Bill Colclough and (sophomore) Pat Colclough (Naples, FL/Peoria Mustangs). Both goaltenders played well.” 
UMass Dartmouth out shot Fitchburg State, 24-21. Senior goaltender Collin Tracy (Medford, MA/Medford HS) made 17 saves for UMD, while Robert Vorse made 23 saves for the Falcons.
The Corsairs dropped to 7-2-1 and 4-1-1 in the MASCAC with the defeat, while FSU improved to 5-3-0 and 3-3-0 with the victory. UMass Dartmouth will take time off for the semester break, returning to action when they host Salve Regina Saturday, January 8th.
