RIT should travel well.  By the most direct route (via, give or take, 
London, Ontario), it's about 320 miles per Google Maps (GM).

However - it just struck me  - Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative 
(WHTI) and all, if they don't have passports, they'll have to go Erie 
- Cleveland - Toledo, which brings it up to 425 miles (again 
according to GM).  An extra 100 miles/1.5 hours is going to make it 
that much more difficult.
