College Hockey America did the same thing, on a much smaller scale, during
their first few years. Each team in the league hosts each opponent for two
games and plays at each opponent for two games. Air Force, probably due to
finishing up scheduling commitments from when they were independent,
occasionally hosted an opponent for one game during the season rather than
two (thus playing that opponent 3x in the season rather than 4), and that
game would be counted for four points in the standings instead of the
traditional two.
