PROVIDENCE HOCKEY’S CACCIOLA NAMED
HOCKEY EAST CO-ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Providence College men’s hockey freshman goaltender
David Cacciola (Burlington, Mass.) was named the HOCKEY EAST’s Co-Rookie of
the Week, as named by the league on Monday, December 3.
Cacciola earned the honor after making his first career start in goal on
Saturday, December 1 in the Friars’ 4-1 victory over Merrimack College at
PC’s Schneider Arena. Cacciola stopped a career-high 33 shots including a
third-period penalty shot, and earned his first career win.
On the season, Cacciola has totalled 101 minutes in two games, a 1.78 goals
against average, a .951 save percentage and a 1-1-0 record.
The Friars are 6-9-1 overall on the season and are 4-6-0 in HOCKEY EAST
play. The Friars host Quinnipiac University on Friday, December 7 at 7:00
p.m. in PC’s Schneider Arena in PC’s last home contest until after the new
year.
