SCSU's Roxanne Stang Named WCHA Rookie of the Week
St. Cloud, Minn. -- St. Cloud State University first year forward Roxanne
Stang (Princeton) has been named the WCHA women's hockey Rookie of the Week
for games played on Jan. 19-20. The honor is another in a string of top
accomplishments for Stang, who was named the WCHA's Player of the Week for
games played on Jan. 12-13, and U.S. College Hockey Online's Division I
national player of the week on Jan. 18.
In action at Bemidji State, Stang helped the Huskies gain an 8-6 win on Jan.
19 and a 4-4 tie on Jan. 20. Stang posted two goals and one assist in both
games against the Beavers to gain league honors. Stang has been impressive
over the past two weeks with nine goals over the team's last four games.
She now has 16 goals and eight assists this season for a total of 24 points.
She also has 55 shots to her credit and is a +7 on the all-important
plus/minus rating. She ranks first on the team with seven power play goals.
The Huskies are currently 12-10-2 this season and 8-6-2 in the always rugged
WCHA. On Feb. 2-3, the Huskies will entertain non-conference rival Cornell
at the National Hockey Center in St. Cloud. She is the daughter of Mark and
Sandy Stang of Princeton.
