UPCOMING GAMES:  The #6/#7 St. Cloud State menıs hockey team (17-4-1, 12-4-0
WCHA) will host Brown University (3-10-2, 2-8-2 ECAC) on Jan. 19 and Jan.
20, in the National Hockey Center (cap. 5,763) on the campus of SCSU.  SCSU
was ranked #7 in the last USA Today/AHM poll and in the USCHO poll, SCSU was
ranked #6 on Jan. 8.  Game time both nights is 7:05 p.m.

THE RESULTS:The Huskies won their seventh consecutive WCHA game (which ties
a team record for most consecutive wins also hit last year) with a 4-1 win
over Michigan Tech on Jan. 13, at the NHC.  Tyler Arnason was the hero with
two goals, including the game winner at 9:25 of the first.  Joe Motzko
opened the gameıs scoring with a tally at 7:38 before Arnason scored the
game winner.  MTU replied with a second period goal before Mark Hartigan and
Arnason iced the game with third period tallies.  In the game, Brandon
Sampair posted three assists and goalie Scott Meyer had 27 saves.  As  a
team, SCSU outshot MTU 44-28 and was 1-of-4 on the power play...SCSU also
gained a 5-2 win over Michigan Tech at the NHC on Jan. 12.  MTU opened the
scoring at 12:52 of the first period with an unassisted goal by Tom Kaiman.
SCSU countered with five unanswered goals starting with a goal by Brandon
Sampair at 14:00 of the first with assists from Tyler Arnason and Jeff
Finger.  Duvie Westcott pushed it to 2-1 with an unassisted strike at 15:18
of the first.  In the second, Arnason scored his 100th career point with a
power play goal at 2:54 with an assist from Sampair.  In the third period,
Finger scored his third goal of the season with an assist from Matt
Hendricks at 2:54.  Derek Eastman completed the SCSU attack with a
shorthanded goal at 13:40 of the third with an assist from Sampair, which
proved to be Sampairıs 100th career point.  MTU ended the game with a goal
by Brad Patterson at 19:30 of the third.  Scott Meyer was the goalie of
record for SCSU with 22 saves, while Brian Rogers had 36 saves for MTU.
Overall, SCSU outshot MTU by a margin of 41-24.  On the power play, SCSU was
1-3 and MTU was 0-3.  Meyer is now 14-3-1 on the season in the nets.

HEAD COACH: SCSU coach Craig Dahl (Pacific Lutheran, 1976) in his 14th
season as head coach for the Huskies.  He is the only coach that SCSU has
had since moving to the NCAA Division I level in 1987-88.  Dahl has a career
record of 246-237-38 at SCSU and a 20-year career coaching mark of
322-325-40.  Dahl won his 300th career game on 2/19/00.  In 1997-98, Dahl
was named the WCHA Coach of the Year.  He has won more games than any SCSU
hockey coach.  In 2000-01, Dahl will be assisted by Doc DelCastillo (SCSU,
1992) in his third season and first year coach Brad Willner (Lake Superior
State, 1995).

ALL-TIME RECORD: The Huskies and Coach Dahl both own a 246-237-38 record
since the program went Division I in 1987-88.  This is the first season that
the Huskies have gone above .500 with their overall record since going
Division I...The Ferris State game on Oct. 13th was the 500th Division I
hockey game in the history of the program at SCSU.  The game was also Dahlıs
500th as a coach at SCSU.

HUSKY BITS:  The Huskies set a new team-high with 49 minutes in penalities
on Jan. 12, and the 78 minutes between the two teams is also a season high.
The previous high was 47 by the Huskies against Minnesota on Nov. 17...Chris
Purslow was back in the line-up on Jan. 13.  This marked Purslowıs first
appearance in six games due an injury...the defense made a statement on Jan.
12 for SCSU by accounting for three goals (Finger, Westcott and Eastman) and
one assist by Finger.  It was the most points by the defense since it hit
four points in a 7-3 win over Bemidji State this season...SCSU tied a season
high with 19 shots in a period during the second period on Jan. 13.  SCSU
also 19 shots in a period against Bemidji State on 10/21...Brandon Sampair
tied a season series-high with six points against MTU.  Earlier in the
season, Mark Hartigan also had six points in the series against CC.  Sampair
also hit a team-high in a series with five assists vs. MTU...It is official,
the NHC is the best game atmosphere in the WCHA, according to the WCHA
website fan poll this week.  SCSU led the league with 41.0% while UND was
second at 22.9% of the vote. Minnesota - 13.3%, Wisconsin - 10.8%, Colorado
College - 4.8%, Michigan Tech - 3.6%, Denver - 2.4%, MSU Mankato - 1.2%,
Minn-Duluth - 0% and Alaska Anchorage - 0% completed the poll
rankings...SCSU (as of Jan. 11) is third in the nation with a 2.10 GAA
rating and 11th with 3.63 goals scored per game at the Division I
level...Scott Meyer is 5th in the nation with a .934 SV% and seventh with a
2.00 GAA... SCSU is tied for third in the nation with a .775 win%...Hartigan
is 13th in Division I with 0.74 goals scored per game.

STEAK SNAPPED:  Jon Cullen saw his 10-game scoring streak broken vs. MTU on
Jan. 12.  Cullenıs line was also held scoreless that night, which has not
happened since a 2-0 loss to Minnesota on Nov. 17 at the NHC.  Cullen
bounded back with an assist on Jan. 13 vs. MTU.

100-POINT CLUB MEMBERS:  Tyler Arnason and Brandon Sampair are both members
of the 100 point club. On Jan. 12, Arnason scored a goal and an assist,
while Sampair had a goal and two assists.  Aranson (45g/57a) and has 12g/10a
this season... Brandon Sampair (42g/61a).  He has 5g/19a this season.
Sampair and Arnason are the 24rd and 25th players in team history (all
Divisions) to reach the 100-point level in their careers.  The last person
to hit 100 career points was Sacha Molin, who had 102 points from 1995-98.
At the Division I level in SCSU history, Sampair ranks 10th among SCSU
players and Arnason ranks 11th.

GREAT BEGINNINGS:  The Huskies continue their best-ever start in team
history at 17-4-1 overall.  The previous best start over 22-games was a
14-6-2 start in 1997-98.

ON A ROLL:  The Huskies are in the midst of a seven-game WCHA win streak
that dates back to a 5-0 win at home over Wisconsin.  SCSU has won six
consecutive games on the road dating back to a Nov. 18 loss at UM and is now
9-1 on the road.  The seven wins ties a team record for most consecutive
wins, which was also hit in 1999-2000.

ON THE RADIO: Husky hockey can be heard on KNSI Radio 1450 AM during the
2000-01 season.  The broadcasts will also be available on the web at
www.1450knsi.com.  Don Lyons will call the play-by-play and former SCSU
All-American Dave Reichel will provide the color commentary for home
games selected games this season will also be broadcast live by KVSC FM
88.1...KNSI AM 1450 will also host the Craig Dahl Show each Monday at 5:05
p.m. during the season.  The show will feature Coach Dahl, SC Times writer
Kevin Allenspach and host Don Lyons.  The show is sponsored by Plaza Park
Bank/Investment Centers of America.

HUSKIES ON TV: A total of 18 Husky home games this season will be televised
live on St. Cloud's Charter Communications cable channel 65 this season.
Charter Communications are also slated to carry the games live on their
systems in Alexandria, Willmar and Little Falls. KSTC channel 45 (Charter
cable channel 17 in St. Cloud) out of the Twin Cities.   Veteran announcer
Wally Shaver will call the play-by-play along with color commentary from
Doug Johnson.  KSTC games slated for this season are Feb. 24 Mankato and
Match 3 Minnesota.

HUSKY AUTOGRAPH DEN:  SCSU fans can obtain autographs in the Husky Autograph
Den after each home game this season.  Players slated to appear in the
autograph den after the game on Jan. 19 are Jim McNamara and Colin Peters
and on Jan. 20 are Joel Peterson and Brian Schuster.

HUSKIES READING FOR FUN:  Each year the St. Cloud Public Library and the
SCSU hockey teams combine to present the Husky Reading for Fun program.
This popular childrenıs reading program at the St. Cloud Public Library in
downtown St. Cloud, features SCSU players reading books on selected Saturday
mornings prior to SCSU home games.  The program continues on Jan. 20, and it
will feature Andy Lundbohm and Ryan Johnson.  For more information, please
call the Library at 251-7282.

ABOUT SCSU: The 1999-2000 season marked the 13th year that SCSU has been a
member of NCAA Division I hockey.  SCSU joined the Division I hockey ranks
in 1987-88 and became a member of the WCHA in 1990-91. That first year in
the league, SCSU finished fifth with a 12-16-4 league record and an 18-19-4
overall record. SCSU's highest league finish has been third place, a
standing that was reached in 1996-97 and again in 1999-2000...since going
Division I, SCSU owns a 246-237-38 overall record.

2000-01 TEAM CAPTAINS: The 2000-01 team captain is senior forward Brandon
Sampair (Mahtomedi).  Assistant captains are senior forward Keith Anderson
(Thief River Falls) and senior defenseman Ritchie Larson (Winnipeg, Mant.).

NOTES ABOUT BROWN:  Brown gained a 5-3 win at Princeton on Jan. 13, and
suffered a 6-1 loss to Yale on Jan. 12...Brown is 3-10-2 overall and 2-8-2
in the ECAC...Brown is tied for last in the ECAC along with Colgate...Matt
Kohansky, a senior forward, leads the club with 8g/8a.  Jon Zielinski, a
senior forward, is second on the team with 5g/5a...Brian Eklund, a junior,
is 2-8-1 this season in the nets with a .896 SV% and a 3.63 GAA.  Yann Danis
is the top reserve in the nets with a 1-2-1 record (4.08 GAA)...Brown will
also play at Minnesota on Jan. 23...Brown is the nationıs 7th oldest school
and it started playing hockey in 1898 with a match against Harvard that
Brown won 6-0.

TEAM NOTES:  SCSU has gained six consecutive wins over MTU and SCSU owns a
28-23-3 series lead against MTU and a 4-0 record over the MTU Huskies during
the Mike Sertich era...the 44 shots posted by SCSU on Jan. 13 was the teamıs
third highest shot output this season.  SCSU hit a season series high with
85 shots (41-44) on goal against MTU this weekend...Tyler Arnason tied a
season series high with  three goals vs. MTU.  Mark Hartigan also had three
goals in the series at CC ...as of Jan. 15, SCSU ranks first in the WCHA
with a 2.38 goals allowed average and third with 3.69 goals scored
average...Scott Meyer ranks third in the WCHA with a .928 save % and third
with 2.15 GAA (WCHA games only)...Mark Hartigan ranks 5th in the league with
1.38 ppg (13g/9a) and Brandon Sampair (3g/17a) is 8th...Sampair has jumped
to 2nd in the league with 15 assists (1.13 apg), while Hartigan is second in
the league with 0.81 goals per game (13 goals).  Hartigan and Sampair are
each third in the league with 10 power play points...a total of six players
have played in every game this season for the Huskies (Jeff Finger, Jon
Cullen, Tyler Arnason, Matt Hendricks, Joe Motzko and Keith Anderson)...Jon
Cullen leads the team with three GWG this season, while Arnason hit his
first and second GWG of the season on Jan. 12 and Jan. 13...Hartigan leads
the team with six power play goals, while Arnason, Derek Eastman and Cullen
have a team-leading two SHGs apiece...Tyler Arnason leads the team with 77
shots on goal, while Mark Hartigan is second with 71...SCSU has seven SHGs
this season, while the team record of 14 was set in 1993-94...the Huskies
are in the midst of a seven-game ( eight counting the Russia Select game)
win streak - the longest win streak of the season for SCSU...the Huskies are
14-0 when they lead going into the third period and 16-0 when they lead or
are tied going into the third period...Brown is the final non-conference
opponent on the Huskiesı regular season schedule this year.  SCSU is 5-0-1
in action against non-conference opponents this year.

BIG CROWDS: For the fifth straight year, Husky Hockey averaged over 5,000
fans per home game. 123,504 people attended SCSU home games in 1999-2000, an
average of 5,881 per game. The attendance figure reflects a steady incline
as SCSU averaged 5,736 in 1998-99, 5,593 in 1997-98, 5-473 in 1996-97 and
5,004 in 1995-96...in home games this season, SCSU has an attendance total
of 57,685 for an average of 5,800 per game...On Nov. 17, SCSU was at
capacity for the first time in 2000-01 with a crowd of 6,685.

WCHA FINAL FIVE: The 2001 WCHA Final Five tournament will be held on March
15-17 at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul.  For ticket information, please
call 651-989-5151...St. Cloud State made its fifth straight WCHA Final Five
appearance and sixth in the last seven years.  SCSU is 3-8 overall in Final
Five games. SCSU reached the WCHA Final Five title game in 1994 after
beating Wisconsin 3-2 in overtime in the semifinal.  SCSU's other Final Five
win was a 4-3 overtime win over Minnesota-Duluth in 1998 in the play-in
game.
