Directly to 20-minute OTs.  Case in point:  the 1995 quarterfinals between
Princeton and Brown.  Princeton won game three, and the series, at 2:06 of the
second overtime, after a 20-minute first OT.
 
The Academic League does it right :-)
 
P.S.  Unless something has changed recently, HE, the CCHA, and the WCHA play
all their playoff games, including first-rounders, "to conclusion" with
20-minute OTs.  I don't know what format the MAAC will use if they have a
tournament, but given the relatively strong ECAC (Div. III) history of their
teams, you can expect something odd.
