Michigan beat Miami 3-1 in a great game (if you're a UM fan).

I don't remember the exact times (this is all from memory), but UM scored in
the later half of the first period on a great setup by Bobby Hayes (after
being tripped, he jumped back up, got the puck and sent a great pass to Van
Ryn, a freshman defenseman, who was bursting up the middle and VanRyn top-
shelved it from the slot area). I think the shots on goal were about even the
first period, around 8 each or so. BOTH goalies played great, Turco and
Prior. Prior got number one star of the game but I think Turco made some
unbelievable saves and he should have been first star.

Midway through the game, it was still 1-0 and I felt that we were looking at a
1-0 or 2-0 game. Miami tripped not one but two UM players which set up an
odd-man rush. Turco stopped the first shot but couldn't get the second and
Miami tied the game in the second half of the second period. UM came back
with a nice break a few minutes later and Kosick played the puck just right,
waited for Prior to make his move, and then top=shelved it. Now i'ts 2-1
which stayed that way until 25 seconds to go in the game.

Turco made 2 point-blank stone-cold saves on 2 different Miami players who are
probably still replaying their shots in their heads.

Muckalt had a hand in all 3 goals, scoring an open netter for his 100th career
goal.

Michigan stays in first place (though I think they will lose both MSU games
next week, sad to say). Miami moves to fourth place and believe it or not
Ohio State is now 3rd place in the CCHA.

Another highlight of the game was that one of our Zamboni machines broke down
on the ice and it took 1/2 hour to get it off the ice. Eventually a tow truck
came in the building and pulled it off the ice.

Piotrowski (the ref) called few penalties (which I think benefited Miami
because of their clutch, grab, and hold type of defense). There were no power
plays the first half of the game and only one "set" of coincidental penalties.
