>Who is/was Bob Johnson? And while I am at it, how about Hobey Baker?

Sometime I may type in the bio of Hobey Baker, which is given in the Hobey
Baker program, but here are a few notes.

* Played football and hockey for Princeton from 1910-13. (Captained both)
* Led Princeton to a 27-7 record in three seasons including three
  Intercollegiate League championships.
* Only penalized once in his college career - slashing against Harvard, 1913.
* Later played for an amateur team that defeated a team from Montreal to
take the prized Ross Cup, and the Montreal Press reported, "Uncle Sam has
the cheek to develop a first class hockey player who was not born in
Montreal. Baker cooked our goose so artistically that we enjoyed it."
* Was known to always visit the opposing locker room after a game.
* One of few Americans to be inducted into Canada's Hockey Hall of Fame.
* A charter member of the US Hockey Hall of Fame, also Princeton's HoF and
  the Football HoF.
* Flew with Rickenbacker as part of the famed Lafayette Esquadrille in World
War I against Von Richtofen and Goering, shot down three German planes in
dogfights depicted in the movies "Hell's Angels" and "Dawn Patrol".
* Killed at the age of 26 in France at the end of World War I.
* Has the rink at Princeton named after him.
* In 1980, had the Hobey Baker Memorial Award named after him by Bloomington's
  Decathlon Athletic Club.

I suggested the idea of a Bob Johnson Memorial Cup to several people at
Northeastern, and they all loved the idea. Some suggested I talk to Jack
Parker about it, but since he has openly advocated hockey's withdrawal from
the NC$$, that was not deemed a good idea. :-) Still, it might not be a bad
idea to put together a petition and send it to the 45 DivI hockey ADs and
coaches suggesting the trophy idea.

Several people I spoke to appreciated the idea to get the name of the NC$$
off of the national championship trophy. :-)
