Well, I can't go with Berenson. He's had all the talent in the world the
last five years, indicating that he's a great recruiter, but has failed to win
the big games. No finals appearances and only 1 (2?) CCHA Playoff
championships. I need someone who can not only get the talent but knows how to
win with it. Jeff Jackson has to be #1. He just wins at a small school that
hardly draws in the talent on name alone as michigan, MSU or Minnesota would do
for example. There will likely be a western bias here, but here we go:
     1. Jeff Jackson- See above.
     2. George Gwozdecky- Went to Miami, made a weak program strong, left for
Denver and Denver got significantly better and Miami went down the
tubes. Can't argue with that record.
     3. Ron Mason--Still got a few years left and has built three quality
programs in BG, LSSU and Michigan State. His Spartan teams have
been down a touch the last 6 years due to improved recruiting in
ann arbor and Sault Ste. Marie but he's still only had one losing
           that I can remember.
     4. Shawn Walsh- Yeah, he's had problems, but I think he's learned his
lesson. He has built a great program in Orono. I would first have
his father-in-law, Ron Mason, give him a big long lecture on win
with a completely clean program instead of a mostly clean program.
5.--Ric Schaffer- Was never really given much support at Notre Dame,
which cares about little except football. Did pretty well in
Alaska considering that that is, I would assume, a recruiting hell.
Honorable Mention: Don Lucia at CC.
