MARQUETTE, Mich. -- Junior winger Jim Hiller scored three goals,
senior center Scott Beattie added three assists and freshman goalie
Corwin Saurdiff made 30 saves as Northern Michigan defeated
Wisconsin, 5-2, here Friday night.
Dallas Drake and Tony Szabo also scored for NMU which moved into a
first-place tie in the WCHA with Minnesota and Wisconsin. Jason Zent
and Barry Richter scored for Wisconsin, while Duane Derksen made 24
stops.
NOTES: Northern Michigan is now 44-3-3 in its last 50 games at
home...Wisconsin was 0-10 on the power-play, while NMU was 1-9...It
was Hiller's first hat trick at NMU...Beattie (10-21-31) and Hiller
(12-16-28) are 1-2 in the nation in scoring (overall total points).
