Now that USA Today is into the act, I thought an update on the UConn
situation might be of interest.
Last Thursday the Development Director for UConn athletics (I don't
remember his name) was interviewed on WTIC's (home of the Whalers and
UConn sports) Sportstalk show. He provided some good news for hockey
fans.....the plans have been finalized to enclose the rink. I was in
a rush to get to the airport so my memory is a little hazy on the
starting time but I think it is next summer.
When asked about joining HE, he indicated that nothing was going on
for the forseeable term.....but left open the possibility further down
the road (and specifically mentioned both HE and the ECAC as
possibilities).
My analysis - they'd love to go up but with a recent report indicating
that they are still out of Title IX compliance it won't occur in this
decade.
