The worst defeat in the NCAA Div I hockey championship game was 10 goals when,
in 1961, Denver smote St.Lawrence 12-2. That eclipsed the then-record (now
2nd) drubbing of 9 goals in the 1950 Colorado College (13) - BU (4) game.
This one was 8 goals, and therefore 3rd, but what was the result in 1965
between (winner) Michigan Tech and BC? I have three scores for that game,
from different sources: 6-2, 8-2, and 8-0! Obviously, if it was 8-0, then
it is the worst shut-out and tied for 3rd worst defeat.
BTW, the last game that was decided by as many as 5 goals was way back in
'75 when Mich Tech beat Minnesota 6-1. The last team to appear in 3 consec-
utive finals was Wisconsin in 81(w),82(l),83(w), and 4-in-a-row has never
been done. The last team to win back-to-back was BU in '71,'72.
Anyone with better data or a long memory?
Thanks,
Steve G
