Helping Maine teens achieve college dreams
The University of Southern Maine (USM) is home to a chapter of Upward
Bound, a federal program helping disadvantaged high school students achieve
college degrees. This fall, 35 of our Upward Bound grads will attend 14
colleges and universities, including USM.

Leadership award.

USM has entered into an agreement with the Greater Portland Transit
District (METRO) on the Unlimited Access Transit Pass Program (U-Pass

Offering low-cost dental care for people in need
SmilePartners is a growing list of community organizations that provide
low-cost dental care services to people in need. This collaborative
initiative, coordinated by USM, enrolled another group of participants this
summer, thanks to support from community partners like DentaQuest
Foundation and Maine Health Access Foundation.
