The AHL players are not members of the NHLPA, they are members of the
Professional Hockey Players Association
(http://www.phpa.com/info/about.asp). The AHL (and ECHL, UHL, and CHL) would
not be shut down because the NHL is.

I've heard the opposite, that if the NHL shuts down the AHL will as
well.  Unfortunately, I don't remember where I heard that so I don't
know how authoritative it is.
