PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Providence College Head Men's Hockey Coach Paul Pooley
received the Partners in Philanthropy Award on Tuesday, November 19 at the
Providence Performing Arts Center as part of the 20th Anniversary of
National Philanthropy Day in Rhode Island.

Pooley was one of 92 Partners in Philanthropy award winners. The award
winners were acknowledged for their work with non-profit and charitable
organizations. Pooley has been a longtime supporter of Meeting Street, a
home for disabled children. Pooley has raised significant funds and
awareness for Meeting Street through the Mayor's Cup, an annual hockey game
between crosstown rivals Providence College and Brown University. Pooley
has encouraged his players to volunteer at Meeting Street and as a result,
many of his players have become supporters of Meeting Street. Pooley also
served as the Honorary Chair for the Meeting Street Golf Classic "FORE
Kids" in the summer of 2002.

Pooley is in his ninth year as the head hockey coach at Providence. He has
guided the Friars to three Hockey East Finals, including 1996, when PC
captured the Hockey East title. In addition, Pooley has led two teams to
the NCAA Tournament. Pooley played his collegiate hockey at Ohio State
University, where he was inducted into the University's Hall of Fame in 1994.

Pooley and his wife Kelly reside in North Providence, R.I. with their
eight-year old son Scott and five-year old daughter Taylor.
