TECH DROPS 7-3 DECISION AT #4 ST. CLOUD STATE

St. Cloud, Minn. -- Fourth-ranked St. Cloud State used five power
play goals enroute to a 7-3 Western Collegiate Hockey Association
victory over Michigan Tech Saturday night at the National Hockey
Center.

Tech played a solid first period, outshooting the hosts by a 15-10
count, however, Ryan Malone's goal at 12:52 gave SCSU a 1-0 lead
after 20 minutes.

Like Friday, the Huskies got into penalty trouble. In the second
period, MTU was whistled for five straight minors and St. Cloud State
capitalized twice to take a 3-0 lead. MTU got back into the game on
Jon Pittis' second goal of the year at 13:09, however, got whistled
for another minor penalty just :22 later. Mark Hartigan made Tech pay
at 14:11 as SCSU went up 4-1.

The Huskies did close the gap to 4-2 when Chris Durno deflected a
shot from the right point off the stick of Jaron Doetzel at 6:02. But
SCSU came back with three straight goals, including two on the power
play. Jaron Doetzel closed out the scoring as he beat Jake Moreland
on a change up.

Brian Rogers played the first 50:21 and made 22 saves, before
yielding to Cam Ellsworth. Ellsworth had two saves in the final 9:39.

Tech, now 2-2-0 on the season, is off until Nov. 2-3 when the Huskies
