now, if we rank the teams by increasing distance to cincinatti,
Michigan, Western Michigan, Cornell and Clarkson get the byes
and CC, BU, Lowell, and Minnesota go to the other regional.
 
Alternatively if we rank the teams by decreasing distance to cincinatti,
CC, BU, Lowell, and Minnesota get the byes and
Michigan, Western Michigan, Cornell and Clarkson go to the other regional.
 
We could rank the teams lexicographically.  Then
BU, Clarkson, CC, and LSSU would get the byes and
Western, Vermont, Minnesota, and Providence would go to the other
regions.
 
I'll leave it to the more erudite among you to rank according to
mascot size, length of university name, enrollment, graduation rate,
or any other scheme you choose.
