Your last statement is incorrect. Bowling Green played in the 1978
NC$$ Final Four at the Providence Civic Center, and finished third by
beating Wisconsin in the consolation game. Boston University won the
title that year by defeating Boston College in the final.

One of the players on that Bowling Green team was Ken Morrow, who went on
to win a gold medal in Lake Placid in 1980 and, a few months later, the
Stanley Cup with the New York Islanders.

Incidentally, the 1978 BU team (whose captain was Brian Durocher, currently
an Assistant Coach at Brown) included several members of the 1980 USA
gold medal team: Jim Craig, Dave Silk and Jack O'Callahan come to mind,
but there may have been others.
