According to writer Kevin Thomas of the Maine Sunday Telegram, the NCAA's
Investigation of University of Maine's atheletics continues to drag, so
don't expect to see any sentences being dealt before the hockey season
gets underway in October.

According to the article, UMaine has still not turned in their
self-report to the NCAA. Thomas says that the Kansas City law firm,
Bond, Schoeneck and King has not yet finished. He also says in his
article that "Maine officials figured the report would be done by
summer."

"It's taking longer than anticipated," said John Diamond, Maine Public
Affairs director "it doesn't make any sense to keep speculating."

Here's the real clincher though. Thomas says that this is long from
being over by pointing out that after the report is turned in, it could
still possibly take another NINE MONTHS to settle.

All summer Maine has also been looking at AD canadates. Thomas said in
his article that the last canadate will interview this week, and that the
committee will meet Thursday. Thomas anticipates a decision will be made
by September.
