Princeton continues its mastery over Colgate, winning for the 5th straight
time. They also complete a double-season-sweep with Colgate and travel partner
Cornell.

The game started out with Colgate controlling the play, but Jim Konte was very
good. It was not as dominating as Cornell on Friday, but close. This time, it
was the defense having a hard time getting clears, and making a lot of bad
passes. But Princeton pepped it up in the last eight minutes of the first, and
Masters created a chance for himself with a nice sidestep move. He shot it up
high, Brenzavich stopped it, and Masters put in his own rebound. Masters just
missed another as the buzzer sounded to end the 1st. His shot deflected off
Bz's blocker and hit the crossbar on a breakaway.

Princeton continued to exploit Brenzavich high to the blocker side, and got two
semi-weak goals. They were good shots and good setups, but BZ should have had
them both. Flahr got the 4th goal with Brenzavich screened.

Just 1:16 later, however, Debusschere deflected in a slapshot to get Colgate on
the board. You never count Colgate out the way they can score. But the
Princeton defense started playing the way it has been lately, GREAT! Princeton
was on a power play when Jon Kelley was whistled for a 5-minute major for high
sticking. He didn't draw blood on Earl Cronen or it might have been a game,
and a suspension. Cronan then scored with still over 2 minutes left on the
major, and there was cause for concern. But Ian Sharp came through again, as
he has done all year. He's gotten better as the season has worn on, and if all
the intangibles and defense were factored in, he should be all-ECAC. He got
the goal right back, getting one shorthanded, and it seriously deflated
Colgate. It never should have happened. O'Brien set it up with his
forechecking, and he was left to roam behind the net way too long, while
shorthanded. It was mind-boggling.

Princeton played out the string in the third. I think Mike Harder played 15
minutes of the 3rd period, but he was frustrated all afternoon. He has
numerous opportunities, some that he even created for himself, but continally
got off bad shots, or lost his balance, and/or shot it wide.

BTW, Matt Weder came in for the 4th and 5th Princeton goal, but BZ came back in
the third, and once again was exploited high. Scowby got his first goal on a
high slapshot. That was the book on him, and that read it well.

Princeton moves into 5th, tied with Colgate, but they win the head-to-head.
Vermont drops to tie for 7th with St. Lawrence. The top 8 teams in the league
are .500 or better now. -- Don't ask me how in the world St. Lawrence is doing
it. They've been woeful, at best, when I've seen them. Princeton is 1 pt.
behind RPI and 2 behind Harvard. Assuming Harvard and RPI don't both sweep
next weekend. Princeton will be in 4th, possibly 3rd, with a sweep of their
own. But they haven't been able to beat Vermont since I've followed them.
