It's nice to hear that OSU is finally starting to pay attention to its
hockey program's needs. For those of you who've never experienced
the OSU Ice Rink (Yes, that's the name...not "Arena", not "Complex,"
not even named after a dead guy...the OSU Ice Rink), it's a cold, tiny
place sitting right in the shadow of St. John Arena. It's soooo
small... (How small is it?) that the refs literally have to dress in
St.John and go next door for the game itself.
I have to give lots of credit to Jerry Welsh for displaying the patience
of Job in his 18 years at OSU. He's a man of obvious talent, and could
have, IMHO, done some good things at a different school that considered
hockey a priority. He must either love the school, or is just now starting
to play hardball.
