Summary:

Union was shut out by Harvard, 2-0, at Achilles Rink Friday night.
>From a Union point-of-view, this was really a very boring game. Union
had very few good scoring chances against the nationally-ranked
Crimson, and finished the night with just 20 shots on goal, all of
which were stopped by Harvard goalie Aaron Israel. Israel's 2 biggest
saves came in the third, first when he was able to reach back and stop
a puck that was slowly rolling into the net with his glove, and the
second when he stopped Jay Prentice on a breakaway. Union lost
another potential scoring chance when a possible breakaway by Reid
Simonton was whistled dead as Scott Boyd was called for a penalty well
behind the play. A late power play gave the game a little excitement,
but the Dutchmen couldn't get anything past Israel. Mike Gallant
played very well in goal again for Union, stopping 31 of 33 shots.
The big difference in this one was overall quickness. Harvard
definitely had the edge there.

Union is now 0-3 in the ECAC, 2-3-1 overall, and Harvard is 5-1-1 in
the ECAC and overall. Harvard heads up Rte 7 to play RPI tonight,
while Brown, which beat RPI last night, will come to Achilles.
