From todays Los Angeles Times:
==============================

The Los Angeles Sports Council, on behalf of the University of Alaska Anchorage
and the new Anaheim Arena (or The Pond for you Mighty Duck fans), has submitted
a bid to the NCAA to bring the NCAA Division I Mens Ice Hockey Championships to
LA for 1997 or 1998.

No schools west of Colorado have Division Ice Hockey programs so the LA Sports
Council approached Alasks-Anchorage with the idea. The new arena in Anaheim,
which will be the home of the NHL expansion Ducks, will open for business the
23rd of this month. It will seat approx. 18,000 for ice hockey and has been
drawing rave reviews from the media.

Said Frank Brown of the N.Y. Daily News: "The beauty of the Anaheim Arena is
enough to leave you slack-jawed. A coral and teal exterior. Marble everywhere.
Brass fixtures. Marvelous sight lines. Two decks of luxury boxes. It is a
site with a future, a site of the future."

Said Terry Egan of the Dallas Morning News: "One look at the building and you
know exactly why Bruce McNall, the Kings owner, wants a new arena for his team."
