Since when can't you hit a player when their head is down???  We teach our
Mite's to keep their head up when in possession of the puck.  If your a playing
at any level, not just D1 hockey and think you can stick handle with your head
down, you'd better stick to intramural hockey.  When I played defense if a
player took a peak on a one on one situation they were going to get hit.  If
it's not from behind (gutless play), a charge, or an elbow then it's not against
the rules.

I personally love UND's style of hockey.  It's fast, highly skilled and
physical, just how the game should be played.  If you don't want to get checked,
don't play hockey.

BTW, any UMD fan who cheers for the Gophers should loose any right to cheer for
a national championship this year.  That's just plain wrong.

Honestly, I don't care that Jesse Martin says it was a clean hit.  The WCHA
disagreed, and watching it, I side with the WCHA.  Malone (and, yes, I know it
was him; my point was that the announcers seemed to avoid discussing these sorts
of things) was, at best, grossly reckless in hitting him when it was apparent
that Martin's head was down.

As for who would watch it, the answer is those of us who do not derive enjoyment
from watching athletes give each other brain damage.  In this particular case,
though, the problem is that one team in the league consistently crosses the
line.  As far as I can tell, that team's fans live in complete denial about the
problem, but those of every other team in the league have noticed and view them
appropriately.
