HOCKEY FALLS AT PLYMOUTH STATE, 4-2 

WATERVILLE VALLEY, NH-J.C. Richardson broke a 2-2 tie with a short-handed goal midway through the third period and host Plymouth State went on to defeat the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's hockey team, 4-2, in a Massachusetts College Athletic Conference game at the Waterville Valley Arena Saturday evening.

Richardson took a pass from Andrew Stewart and scored at 8:58 of the third period to give the Panthers a 3-2 lead after Sean Foley had been whistled for a major penalty, giving UMass Dartmouth a five-minute power play. Bryan Kriner scored the final goal of the game for PSU at 15:26 of the third period 

Stewart gavs PSU a 1-0 lead at 13:55 of the first period. Freshman Dave McDonald (Wakefield, MA/Valley Jr. Warriors) tied it with a power play goal at 18:16 of the first period. Freshman Paul Graham (Quincy, MA/Northern Cyclones) put the Corsairs ahead, 2-1, when he jammed home the rebound of a shot by senior defenseman Graeme Bourne (Redlands, CA/Campbell River Storm) at 2:34. Kyle Ross tied it for PSU when he scored at 15:09.

UMass Dartmouth out shot Plymouth State, 36-31. Sophomore goaltender Collin Tracy (Medford, MA/ Medford HS) made 27 saves for UMass Dartmouth, while Jack Astedt made 34 for PSU. The Corsairs converted one of four power play chances, while holding the Panthers scoreless in three chances.

UMD dropped to 7-14-1 and 2-12-1 in the MASCAC with the defeat, while Plymouth State improved to 14-7-1 and 10-4-1 with the victory. The Corsairs will return to action when they visit Worcester State next  Thursday evening.
