TWO CORSAIRS EARN ECAC NORTHEAST HONORS

CAPE COD, MA–Two members of the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth’s hockey team have been honored by the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference.

Junior forward Jeff Grant (Burlington, MA/Austin Prep) has been named ECAC Northeast Player of the Week, and sophomore goaltender Jeff Green (Medway, MA/Medway HS) has been named ECAC Northeast Goaltender of the Week.

Grant scored four goals and added an assist in UMass Dartmouth’s first two games last weekend. He scored twice in each game, had two power play goals and a shorthanded goal, and had the game-winning goal in each contest.

“Jeff Grant had two electrifying goals last weekend,” said UMass Dartmouth Head Coach John Rolli. “He had a shorthanded goal against Lebanon Valley, and another goal which turned out to be the game winner. He followed that up with two power play goals in the win against Becker. Jeff is a very exciting offensive player.”

Green started both games and earned the victory each time out. He made 21 saves in a 4-2 win against Lebanon Valley Friday evening, and made 12 saves Saturday while combining with junior Bruce Maggio (Quincy, MA/North Quincy HS) for a shutout against Becker Saturday. Green posted a save percentage of .943 and a goals-against average of 1.08, and recorded the seventh and eighth victories of his UMD career without a loss.

“What more can you say about Jeff Green?” said Rolli. “He’s made eight starts for us, and he’s been a part of four shutouts. Jeff has capably assumed the starting role.”

The Corsairs are 2-0-0 and will open ECAC Northeast Conference action when they host Stonehill Wednesday evening.
