I know it's hard to follow the Ice Hockey World Championships from the
States, but has anyone noticed that one of the surprise teams, Austria
(who tied Canada and Switzerland and beat France to finish second in
Group D in the preliminary round, and still look good to make the
Quarterfinals despite losing to the Czechs in their latest qualifying
round game), features recent collegians Thomas Vanek of Minnesota (who
leads the team in scoring), Thomas Pöck of UMass and Bernd Brückler of
Wisconsin (who hasn't played)?
