Press release from RPI's SID

MEN'S HOCKEY LOSES TO BROWN, 1-0
Danis stops 30 shots to backstop ECAC victory

Brown University got 30 saves from senior Yann Denis and killed off all
eight of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute's (RPI) power play chances for
a
1-0 win in an Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) contest at the
Houston Field House in Troy, N.Y. With the win, the first place Bears
are
now 7-3-3 overall and 7-2-1 in the ECAC. The Engineers fall to 8-8-2
overall and 3-3-1 in the league.

Danis, who entered the game leading the nation in both goals against
average and save percentage, posted his NCAA-leading fourth shutout of
the
season by stopping 11 shots in the first period, seven in the second
period
and 12 in the third. Several of his saves came at point-blank range with
under a minute remaining in the third.

Neither team could find the back of the net through the first two
periods
despite having four power play chances each.

The Bears broke the deadlock on their sixth power play of the game when
senior center Nick Ringstad one-timed a shot past Rensselaer netminder
Nathan Marsters at 13:16 of the third period. Ringstad earned his fourth
goal of the season when he skated from the top of the right circle to
the
slot, took a pass from Les Haggett and scored. Brian Ihnacak also had an
assist on the goal.

Masters finished with 16 saves in the game.

The Engineers will host ECAC foe Harvard University on Saturday night
while
Brown will play a league game at Union. Both games begin at 7pm.
