It would seem that someone should sue the Ivys as a restraint on
trade (Colgate would be a good candidate) for not opening up the
conference. Just some food for thought. I wonder if the same
schools (D3) that field D1 women will also have to exclude those
teams or will the PC police exempt them?

First off, I have no idea if you're serious or joking, but I
hope to god you are joking about suing a conference for restraint
of trade. If you're not, then all I can say is wow.

I don't see how you could force the Ivy league or any conference
to accept a member it doesn't want - there's such a thing as
freedom of association in this country and all that. The mere
thought boggles the mind. And even though I feel it's a stupid
suggestion, I have to ask on what grounds you'd even base that on.

2nd of all, the D3 proposal is to eliminate all athletic
scholarships at D3 member schools period, women's programs
included.

Thirdly, such schools would only have to move up to D2 to keep
their D1 scholarships, they would not have to move all the way to
D1 (remember, there are plenty of D2 schools playing D1 hockey).
Or they could stay at D3 and play D1 hockey w/o scholarships,
like Union does currently.

Lastly, this is not an NCAA-initiated proposal, it is being
brought forth by the Division 3 management council, not the
figure heads in Indy. They couldn't care less, as they worry
about their basketball money and the BCS BS.
